The short version: The messages you paste into ProtectMyCircle are analyzed by AI to give you a scam verdict. We do not use your messages to train any AI model, we do not sell them, and we do not share them with anyone except our AI processing provider, solely to generate your result. Our AI provider retains submitted messages for a short period — currently up to 7 days — for safety and abuse-monitoring purposes, after which they are deleted. We do not otherwise store the content of your messages on our own systems.
1. What information we collect
We collect the minimum information needed to provide our service:
Account information — if you sign up for the Family Plan, we collect your name, email address, and payment information (processed securely — we never store your full card number)
Message content you submit for analysis — see Section 2 below for exactly how this is handled
Usage data — anonymous data about how many checks are performed, used only to improve the service
Newsletter — if you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address
Contact forms — if you contact us, we collect the information you provide in your message
2. How we handle the messages you submit for analysis
When you paste or forward a message to ProtectMyCircle:
It is sent to our AI processing provider (Anthropic) to generate a scam/safety verdict.
It is not used to train any AI model.
It may be retained by our AI provider for up to 7 days for safety and abuse-monitoring purposes, then automatically deleted. We do not maintain our own separate copy of your message content after your result is generated.
We do not sell or share the content of your message with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.
A note on third parties: many submitted messages reference other people — a bank, a relative, a caller's name or number. We do not use this information for any purpose beyond generating your verdict, and it is subject to the same short-term retention described above. If you are submitting a message on behalf of a parent, grandparent, or other family member, please make sure they're comfortable with this before you submit it.
3. What we do NOT collect
Your location beyond what you voluntarily provide
Any data from your device beyond standard web analytics
Your full payment card number (handled entirely by our PCI-compliant payment processor)
4. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide and improve the ProtectMyCircle service
Generate your scam-check result via our AI processing provider
Process your Family Plan subscription and billing
Send you the weekly scam alert newsletter (if subscribed)
Respond to your support requests
Understand how people use the service (anonymous analytics only)
5. How we protect your information
We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Payment processing is handled by a PCI-compliant payment processor — we never see or store your full card details.
6. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. Ever. We may share information with:
Our AI processing provider (Anthropic), solely to analyze submitted messages and generate your result, per Section 2
Our payment processor, to handle billing securely
Our email service provider, to send newsletters you've subscribed to
Law enforcement, if required by law
That's the complete list. We don't share with advertisers or data brokers.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies to make the site work (such as remembering your daily check count). We use optional analytics cookies to understand how people use the site. You can decline non-essential cookies using the banner that appears on your first visit.
8. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. To exercise these rights, email support@protectmycircle.com. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Children's privacy
ProtectMyCircle is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify subscribers of material changes by email and update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
